Injury Accident 1/2 Mile East of the Ellis Blacktop on West Scott Road

LOCATION: West Scott Road approximately ½ mile east of the Ellis Blacktop  

TIME: 2:25 p.m.             

OFFENSE: Single vehicle injury accident

On October 13th, 2009 at approximately 2:25 pm, Gage County Communications advised Gage County Sheriffs Deputies of a single vehicle injury accident on West Scott Road approximately ½ mile east of the Ellis blacktop.

Upon arrival, a Sheriff’s Deputy and members of Beatrice Rural Fire located Joann J Tharp, 66, of Plymouth in the south ditch.  Tharp was taken by Beatrice Rescue to Star Care V and then transported to BryanLGH where she was treated for her injuries. 

Tharp was traveling westbound on West Scott Road when she fell asleep at the wheel.  Her vehicle crossed the center of the road, entered the south ditch, went over a creek, and arrived at final rest on the west bank of the creek.

Seatbelts were in use and alcohol is not a factor in the accident.

Responding units to the accident were Beatrice Rural Fire, Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Star Care V, and the Gage County Sheriffs Office.
