Injury Accident Approximately 3/4 of a Mile North of Elm Road on South 5th Drive

At 2208 hours on November 29, 2009, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to Beatrice Community Hospital in reference to a injury accident that occurred ¾ of a mile north of East Elm Road on South 5th Drive. The accident involved a 2005 Dodge SG2 pickup driven by Rodney L. Trauernicht, 46, of Beatrice. According to the driver’s statements, he was traveling north on South 5th Drive when deer ran onto the roadway from the east. According to the driver, he attempted to miss the deer and exited the road to the west which caused the vehicle to roll and come to a rest on its top in the west ditch. The driver did not notify law enforcement immediately and the vehicle was towed from the scene before an on scene investigation could be completed. The passenger of the vehicle, Linda M. D’Andrea 49 of Beatrice, was later transported to Beatrice Community Hospital for her injuries. Seatbelts were being utilized by the driver and passenger and alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.
