On December 6, 2009, members of the Gage County Sheriff's Office, Blue Springs Fire, Wymore Fire & Rescue, and Beatrice Fire & Rescue responded to a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of Broad Street (Blue Springs turnoff) and Highway 77. Vehicle #1 driven by Todd E Frye, 29 of Marysville KS, was southbound on Highway 77 approaching Broad Street, the turnoff into Blue Springs. Vehicle #2 driven by Kevin S Morse, 42 of rural Blue Springs, had just turned northbound onto Highway 77 from Broad Street. Vehicle #1 started sliding on the slick, snow packed road. The rear of the vehicle started sliding to the left. The driver of #1 over corrected and the rear of the vehicle slid to the right causing the vehicle to turn approximately 90 degrees to the left. Vehicle #1 slid into vehicle #2, striking #2 in the front left with the right front. The rear ends of both vehicles then rotated toward each other, striking before both vehicles separated and traveled to final rest. The driver of vehicle #2, Kevin Morse, was transported by Beatrice Fire and Rescue to Beatrice Community Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of vehicle #2, Tammy Morse, 41 of rural Blue Springs, was transported by Wymore Rescue to Beatrice Community Hospital, also for non-life threatening injuries. Rachel Frey, 27 of Marysville KS, the passenger in vehicle #1, was treated at the scene and released. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles and alcohol is not considered a factor.
