Game Violation

On December 27, 2009, Gage County Deputies responded to a call for service in reference to hunters poaching.  The reporting party advised that they heard gunfire near their home and they stopped the two they believed were shooting.  Upon arrival, Deputies detained two suspects: Justin W. Hawkins, 26, of Beatrice and Robert C. Rafael Kegerreis, 20, of Santa Rosa, California.  Deputies immediately recovered an unloaded 12 gauge shotgun from the vehicle and ammunition for the weapon.  They also recovered spent shotgun shells near the vehicle that matched the rounds found in the vehicle.  Deputies found three dead deer approximately 50 yards off the road and placed them into evidence.  Hawkins was cited for numerous game violations and for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.  Rafael Kegerreis was cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.  Both suspects were then released. This case is still under investigation and will be investigated further by the Nebraska Game and Parks Authorities.
