Injury Accident at Highway 8 and South 3rd Road

On 01-17-2010 at approximately 1900 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Wymore Fire and Rescue, and Odell Fire and QRTs were dispatched to a single vehicle injury accident on Hwy 8 at S. 3rd Road.  Bernard Behrends, age 66 of Wymore, was traveling westbound on Highway 8 when a deer entered the roadway from the south.  The green 1996 Ford Windstar van struck the deer causing the vehicle’s air bags to deploy which caused non-life threatening injuries to the driver and passenger. The passenger, Rebecca Behrends, age 60 of Wymore, was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital for medical treatment.  Bernard Behrends was treated and released at the scene.
