Injury Accident on Highway 77 Near Elm Road

On Thursday, February 04, 2010 at approximately 1644 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle accident which had occurred on Highway 77 near Elm Road.  A 1999 Dodge Durango driven by 33 year old Shawn J Dewey of Crete was driving south on Highway 77 near Elm Road.  Dewey lost control of the vehicle, swerved left and right several times before sliding sideways off the road.  The vehicle entered the west ditch, collided with a snow bank, and rolled over one and a half times.  The vehicle came to rest in the ditch on the west side of the road. 

Mr. Dewey did not report any injuries.  33 year old Crystal L Dewey of Crete reported minor injuries with no medical treatment needed. 

Seatbelts were being utilized by the driver but the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.  Slick roads are believed to be a contributing factor in the incident.  Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
