Two Vehicle Accident Resulting in DUI Arrest

OFFENSE: Two vehicle non-injury accident, Driving Left of Center, DUI arrest

On February 5, 2010 at approximately 2130 hours, Gage County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a two vehicle accident south of Wymore near Plum Road. Upon arrival, Sheriff’s deputies’ investigation revealed that Daron Schmidt, 48 years of age of Shelby Iowa, was traveling northbound on Highway 77 near Plum Road when he crossed left of center of the highway. His 1998 Chevrolet 2-door struck a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup traveling northbound on Highway 77 being driven by 48 year old Susan Prebyl of Oketo, Kansas. No occupants of either vehicle were injured.
During the course of the investigation, it was found that Schmidt was driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol 2nd Offense, Driving left of Center, as well as various other charges.
Responding and assisting agencies to the accident were the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Wymore Police Department, and Wymore Fire and Rescue.
