Injury Accident Approximately 1/4 Mile West of S 96th Road on Highway 41

On February 27, 2010 at approximately 0604 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to Highway 41 approximately ¼ mile west of S 96th Road for a single vehicle injury accident.  A black 1993 Lincoln Mark VII driven by 32 year old Stephen Sullenberger was traveling west on Highway 41 when Sullenberger lost control of the vehicle due to a slick road surface.  Sullenberger’s vehicle crossed the centerline, rotated approximately 90 degrees, slid sideways off of the road to the left, and entered the south ditch.  The vehicle collided with an embankment and rolled over one and a half times before coming to rest on its top in the south ditch.

Sullenberger reported injuries but declined transportation by ambulance to a hospital.  Seatbelts were being utilized at the time of the accident and alcohol was not a contributing factor.
