On Friday, March 5, 2010 at approximately 1303 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Adam Fire and Rescue responded to a three vehicle injury accident located 300 feet west of South 120th Road on US East Highway 41.

47 year old Allen T. Lee of Miami, Oklahoma was driving a 2005 Freightliner with a trailer.  He was stopped by a flag man in a construction zone on East US Highway 41 just west of South 120th Road.  45 year old Rebecca R. Sherman of Tecumseh, Nebraska was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer. The Explorer was also stopped on US East Highway 41 by the flag man in a construction zone.  Both vehicles were facing west.

45 year old Donald D. Warnken of Diller, Nebraska was driving a 2007 Freightliner. The Freightliner was traveling west on US East Highway 41 and collided with the back of the Explorer causing the Explorer to be pushed into the rear of the semi-trailer in front of her.  This caused damage to the front and back of the Explorer. The collision also caused both driver and passenger airbags to deploy.  The driver of the Explorer sustained injuries from the collision and was transported to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln by Adams Fire and Rescue. Her injuries were not life threatening.   Neither driver of the semis sustained any injuries from the accident.  The driver of the second semi received a citation for careless driving.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accidents and seatbelts were being utilized by all drivers.  This accident is still under investigation by the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
