OFFENSE: Suspicious Containers

CASE: 2010-2122

On Tuesday May 18, 2010, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in Barneston of suspicious chemicals in jugs with hoses sticking out of the tops. The responding deputies notified Sergeant Kubicek, who is a Clan Lab Specialist, and requested his assistance.  The reporting party believed the jugs were part of a meth lab.

The building was secured until Sergeant Kubicek’s arrival.  Once the containers were removed from the building it was discovered that they did contain a dangerous chemical but it was not part of a meth lab.  The landowner was notified and will be responsible for disposing of the chemicals.

Gage County Emergency Manager Mark Meints was also notified to assist the land owner with resource information to ensure that the chemicals are disposed of in an appropriate manner.
