On July 16, 2010, deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were detailed to a two vehicle accident just south of mile marker 17 on Highway 77.  This location is approximately ½ mile south of Maple Road and Highway 77.

As he was slowing for a wrecker on the shoulder of the highway, Roger Wittmus, 54, of rural Wymore, driving a brown 1994 Chevrolet pickup was struck from behind by a gold 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Larry Wise, 59, of Wymore.  The impact caused Wise’s vehicle to go into the ditch and Wittmus’ vehicle pulled to the side of the road.

Wittmus complained of injury to his neck and back and went to Beatrice Community Hospital by private vehicle.  Wise was arrested for DUI 2nd offense and was lodged in the Gage County Detention Center.
