2nd Degree Assault on Confined Person

OFFENSE: 2nd Degree Assault on Confined Person

On December 29th, 2011, Corrections Officers of the Gage County Detention Center and Deputies of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in the Detention Center. Corrections Officers and Deputies observed that an assault had occurred in a jail cell between two inmates, Zachary Martin 25 of Beatrice and William Connolly 18 of Beatrice.

Connolly became upset with Martin due to the level of the volume on a TV. The situation escalated and an assault occurred. An investigation of the incident resulted in William Connolly being issued a uniform citation for 2nd Degree Assault on a Confined Person. This is a Class III Felony due to the fight occurring in a Correctional Facility.
