Two Vehicle Injury Accident at Highway 77 and Osage Road

OFFENSE: Two vehicle injury accident       

CASE: 2012-1765                     

On 4/9/2012 at approximately 1530 hrs the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Blue Springs Fire, Wymore Fire and Rescue, Beatrice Rescue and Star Care responded to a 2 vehicle injury accident on Hwy 77 and Osage Rd. A semi-tractor and trailer with an over-sized load was involved in the injury accident with a 2004 Dodge Durango. The semi-tractor and trailer was northbound on Hwy 77 and the Dodge was south bound. At approximately Osage Rd both vehicles collided causing heavy damage to the Dodge and injuring the driver. At the time of the accident there was heavy smoke across the road from a burn permit issued grass fire near the road way. Kristina Scheele age 33 from Marysville KS, the driver of the Dodge received non-life threatening injuries and was life flighted to Bryan LGH West  and the driver of the semi-tractor Frank Lukach age 55 from Paris Ontario Canada was not injured.

Two other vehicles were involved in an accident resulting in very little damage to the vehicles and no injuries.  This accident was unrelated to the accident in this news release.
