OFFENSE: Click-It or Ticket Grant

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office has been selected to participate in the Click It or Ticket grant provided by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety. This grant allows the Sheriff’s Office to utilize extra full time, part time and reserve deputies. All the mileage and over time is reimbursed from the grant. Deputies will be on saturated patrol throughout the county and the grant runs from May 21, 2012 thru June 3, 2012.

As part of the participation, the Sheriff’s Office is required to conduct a Pre-Wave Click It or Ticket seat belt survey. This survey was conducted on May 18, 2012 at the Highway 136 and South 1st Road. 100 vehicles and 127 people were observed during the survey. 64% of the subjects were observed wearing their seat belts and 36% of the subjects were not observed wearing a seat belt. A Post-wave Click It or Ticket seat belt survey will be conducted at the conclusion of the grant.

The goal of the Click It or Ticket mini-grant is to raise the awareness of drivers throughout Gage County to utilize the seat belt for safety of the motoring public. Deputies will be issuing citations for the failure to wear seat belts as required by Nebraska State Law.
