Investigations
The two Investigators for the Gage County Sheriff's Office have a wide range of responsibilities and are trained in several different areas to assist the office. Some of the duties include investigating reported crimes and any suspected criminal activity. The Investigators are also responsible in the processing of larger crime scenes. It is the responsibility of the Investigators to obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses or by analyzing records. It is also the responsibility of the Investigators to investigate Homicides, Burglaries, Sex Crimes, Robberies, Felony Thefts, Scams and Frauds.
The Investigators gather and disseminate information regarding any criminal activity. The Investigators also attend several intel meetings a month with several different agencies. This has proven to be very beneficial for all agencies involved.
It is also the duty of the Investigators to serve as the Crime Stoppers representative for the Sheriff’s Office. The Investigators are also well-trained in several different areas. This is accomplished by numerous hours of training by either attending classes or by reading literature. In today’s criminal justice system, things are changing every day and it is up to the Investigators to keep up on these changes which helps in completing an investigation of any nature.
