The office of the Sheriff for the County of Gage has existed since 1857. The Sheriff holds an elected office, which is voted on by the citizens of the county. The Sheriff is elected to a four year term and he or she may serve additional terms if re-elected by the citizens.

On 11-02-12 at around 1620 hours, Beatrice Rural Fire, Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Pickrell Fire and Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident on S 5th Drive between E Dogwood and E Elm Road.

Juvenile Flees From Custody

On 9-27-12, a male juvenile suspect, after being sentenced to Kearney, ran from the escorting deputy eastbound from the exterior of the Gage County Courthouse. The male juvenile suspect was handcuffed behind his back at the time he fled.
