Barneston Fire Department Donates Ambulance to Gage County Sheriff's Office

The Barneston Volunteer Fire Department recently assisted the Gage County Sheriff’s Office with a generous donation: an ambulance.  The Sheriff’s Office had been searching for a newer, larger, and more updated vehicle that could be converted into a multipurpose vehicle to meet the growing needs of the Sheriff’s Office.  The Barneston Volunteer Fire Department answered the call.

The Barneston Volunteer Fire Department was in possession of an ambulance that they were no longer using.  Sgt. Joe Kubicek and Deputy Burke Kline spoke with the members of the department.  They agreed to donate the vehicle to the Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle will be used as a multipurpose vehicle capable of being a mobile command post, crime scene unit at major scenes, and as a transport vehicle for the Emergency Response Team in the service of search warrants.  The vehicle also has many other uses.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office donated their time to customize the vehicle to serve the needs of the Sheriff’s Office. The previous Special Response Unit was too small and was outdated.  The old special response unit is now being utilized by the Gage County Emergency Management Agency.
